REMOTE CONSULTING AND INTERNATIONAL INSPECTION
Remote document review is available without a site visit. Norman QC also accepts short-term travel assignments for source inspection by request.
TWO WAYS NORMAN QC CAN WORK WITH YOU
Field Inspection and Site QA
Requires physical presence. Available in Edmonton and Alberta year-round, US Gulf Coast for turnaround season assignments, and India for fabrication shop source inspection trips.
Remote Document Review
Does not require travel. WPS/PQR review, ITP review, inspection report auditing, and QA consulting — all delivered as signed PDF reports. Available to clients by request.
REMOTE DOCUMENT REVIEW — WHAT IT IS AND WHO NEEDS IT
Many inspection and QA deliverables are document-based. Welding procedure specifications, inspection test plans, material test records, and inspection reports can be reviewed independently without a site visit. This service is useful for:
- —Small and mid-size operators who need independent QA review without mobilising a full field inspector
- —Procurement teams purchasing equipment from remote fabricators who need a qualified reviewer for vendor documentation
- —Engineering firms who need an independent API-certified second opinion on inspection reports before client submission
- —International fabrication shops supplying North American clients who need their WPS/PQR packages reviewed against ASME Section IX and North American client specifications
How it works: You email or share documents via a secure folder. Our team reviews against applicable code and your specifications. A signed report with findings and recommendations is returned with turnaround confirmed per package.
WHAT CAN BE REVIEWED REMOTELY
- —Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) — review against ASME Section IX
- —Procedure Qualification Records (PQR) — code compliance and completeness check
- —Inspection Test Plans (ITP) — review against client specs and applicable codes
- —Material Test Reports (MTR) — verification against ASME material requirements
- —Inspection reports — independent QA audit for code compliance and completeness
- —Fabricator quality plans — review against customer requirements
- —Non-conformance reports — independent disposition review
USA — GULF COAST TURNAROUND ASSIGNMENTS
The US Gulf Coast has a large concentration of refineries and petrochemical plants. Turnaround work is typically scheduled in seasonal windows based on site requirements.
Gulf Coast assignments are coordinated with the client for scope, schedule, and access requirements.
Key Locations
- —Houston, TX — refining and petrochemical hub
- —Port Arthur / Beaumont, TX — heavy refining
- —Corpus Christi, TX — refining and midstream
- —Baton Rouge / Lake Charles, LA — refining and petrochemical
What clients receive:
- —API 510 pressure vessel inspection during turnaround window
- —API 570 piping inspection — process piping and small bore piping
- —Integrated welding QA (CWB Level 2) for any tie-in or modification work
- —Turnaround inspection report package
INDIA — FABRICATION SHOP SOURCE INSPECTION
India has an established pressure equipment fabrication sector. Workshops in Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Tamil Nadu manufacture pressure vessels, heat exchangers, and piping spools to ASME codes. Independent source inspection helps verify compliance before shipment.
Norman QC accepts source inspection assignments at Indian fabrication shops by request, coordinated with the client and fabricator.
Our team is also available for a hybrid model: a single shop visit for final inspection and hydrotest witnessing, combined with remote review of all quality documentation before and after the visit. This minimises travel while maintaining full QA coverage.
Key Fabrication Hubs
- —Ahmedabad / Vadodara, Gujarat — ASME pressure vessel fabrication
- —Pune, Maharashtra — piping spools and process equipment
- —Chennai, Tamil Nadu — offshore equipment and export fabrication
What clients receive:
- —Pre-visit review of fabricator quality plan and ITP
- —On-site hold point and witness point inspection
- —Final dimensional and visual inspection
- —Hydrotest or pressure test witnessing
- —Pre-shipment inspection report with full documentation review
